#1: Popsicle Stick Craft
This simple Father’s Day craft for preschoolers is perfect for dad or Grandpa.
It’s precious to listen to the kids say the reasons why they love their dad.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- popsicle sticks
- packing tape
- twine
- Sharpie
B. Set-up
Line up the popsicle sticks in a row we used 11 sticks so we could write 10 things that they love about their dad.
Place packing tape on the popsicle sticks. Make sure the packing tape is on each of the sticks.
C. Activity
Grab a Sharpie and talk with your kids about the reasons why they love their dad. Try to get them to say specific things instead of I love him.
Ask them questions like what you like to play with him, what outdoor activities do you like to do with dad, or where was your favorite place that you have gone with him. Asking these questions will help spark some ideas!
If the kids are able to write, they can write their answers, or you can write it for them.
Hot glue a piece of twine to the back of the sticks so it can be hung up! This is sure to be a hit on Father’s Day.
#2: Salt Dough Handprint
Here is the cutest Father’s Day craft for preschoolers that Dad will keep forever.
I love that this craft has the kid’s handprint in it as well as a photo.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- plain flour
- salt
- water
- bowl
- baking sheets
- acrylic paint
- mod podge
- pictures
B. Set-up
To make salt dough, in a bowl, mix 2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, and 1 cup water. If you need it, add a little bit more water; sometimes, I have to do that to make it the exact consistency I want.
Preheat the oven to 250.
C. Activity
Use a rolling pin to roll the dough out onto a baking sheet. Then, have your child place their hand in the dough.
Press their hand down so the print shows up. Then, use a knife to cut around the handprint.
If you want to add a photo, use a circle or heart cookie cutter and make the shake in the bottom of the handprint.
Place in the oven at 250 degrees for 2 hours. Pull it out and let it cool.
Once it’s cool, the kids can use acrylic paint to paint their handprints! Once the paint is dry, you can use a little bit of mod podge to stick the photo onto the back of the handprint.
Keep the handprint flipped upside down so it can dry with the photo in place.

#3: Fish Father’s Day Card
How adorable is this fish Father’s Day craft for preschoolers? It’s perfect for a dad or grandpa who loves to fish.
My kid’s favorite part about this craft is that fact they got to head outside to search for sticks.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- cardstock paper
- scissors
- glue stick
- glitter glue
- googly eyes
- glue
- stick
- colored yarn
B. Set-up
Trace your child’s hand on colored paper, cut it out, and create your fish!
We used googly eyes, glitter glue for scales, and cut out a heart shape for the mouth.
C. Activity
We used light blue paper for the background of this craft. Then, we created some waves on a dark blue sheet of paper and pasted it at the bottom to look like water.
Paste your fish on the paper so it’s a little bit in the water but almost about to come out!
For the fishing pole, paste some yarn down on the paper and glue the stick on the side.
Lastly, we added some waves in the water with the glitter glue! Add a sweet message for this cute Father’s Day craft.

#4: Dad Fingerprint Craft
I love how resist art projects turn out. Especially on black paper with bright-colored paint! It looks so pretty.
This Father’s Day craft for preschoolers is easy and fun for the kids. It’s a cute one to hang on the fridge and keep as a keepsake.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- cardstock paper
- washable paint
- masking tape
B. Set-up
Use my FREE template of the word DAD, or draw your own letters using paper. Cut them out and use masking tape to tape them to the black paper.
You can also have them create a handprint instead of an A. Trace their hand and cut it out and tape it in the middle of the D’s!
C. Activity
The kids will dip their fingers into paint and make fingerprints all over the black paper! They need to make sure to outline the letters so the word shows up.
Carefully remove the letters and/or handprints from the paper. Then, check out the final result!

#5: Picture Frame
Every year we update a picture frame for my husband for Father’s Day. It’s the only gift he ever wants each year!
Which makes it easy for me! It’s a fun Father’s Day craft for preschoolers that becomes a family tradition.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- 3 frame picture frame
- wooden letters
- acrylic paint
- foam paintbrush
B. Set-up
Use acrylic paint to paint the wooden letters D and A. You can either have the kids create two letter D’s or they can just use one for both the frames.
You can either save the letters to use the same ones each year, or you can have the kids create new ones each year to have different designs; it’s totally up to you!
C. Activity
Take some pictures of your kids holding up the letters D and A! You can do this at a special spot on Father’s Day, or you can have this done already for a gift on Father’s Day.
My husband loves the outdoors and going on hikes, so we try to take these photos in special places or even on vacations!
Place the photos in the frames to spell out the word dad. Replace the photos each year! We actually keep the old ones in the frames, too, to see the places we took the photos at and how the kids have grown.
#6: My Dad Rocks Gift
My husband loves the outdoors! So, this was a cute way to bring nature inside where he can see it right at his desk.
The kids loved collecting rocks for this Father’s Day craft for preschoolers.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- picture frame
- acrylic paint
- rocks
- family picture
- hot glue
- acrylic paint marker
B. Set-up
Have the kids paint the picture frame using acrylic paint. We chose the color brown to go along with the colors of the rocks, but you can use whatever color you would like.
While you are waiting for it to dry, they can go search for some rocks! You can also buy craft rocks instead if you don’t have rocks around your house (I have linked some above).
C. Activity
The adult will do this part of the project. You will hot glue the rocks they have found to the sides of the picture frame.
Then, the kids can write “my daddy rocks” on the frame using an acrylic paint marker. These markers show up great, especially on dark colors!
Add a special picture of the kids and their dad! He will love adding this to his office or around the house.
#7: Handprint Reasons Craft
Here’s another cute and easy way for the kids to tell their dad why they love them.

How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- cardstock paper
- Sharpie
- glue stick
B. Set-up
Fold a piece of cardstock paper in half to create your own card!
C. Activity
Trace your child’s hand on a piece of paper, then cut it out. Paste one hand on either side of the card.
Talk to the kids about the reasons why they love their dad. They can either write the answers on their fingers, or you can do this part for them!
Then, they can decorate the card however they like using stickers and make their own special drawings for Dad!
#8: Heart Craft
I love it when creating can be as easy as possible. This Father’s Day craft for preschoolers couldn’t get any easier.

While you are printing off the sheet, have your child start to rip pieces of construction paper!
We used blue, green, and yellow to match the border, but they can use any color they want.
C. Activity
Have the kids fill in the heart with their ripped pieces of paper. They will use a glue stick to attach the pieces on!
Some other options could be to do fingerprinting or even add a picture of the kids and their dad/grandpa in the middle of the heart!
They can write their name at the bottom, or you can write it for them!

This is Dad’s special candy stache that the kids can’t touch too! This is a funny and adorable gift.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- candy jar (plastic or glass)

B. Set-up
Print off the FREE Dad’s Stache printable. Grab your jar and tape the printable to it. We used a 31oz jar, so the label fits that size well. I do have a few different sizes available on the printable. Print off the one that works the best for your jar!
C. Activity
Add Dad’s favorite candy into the jar and give it to him for Father’s Day!
He will love to have his very own special candy that he can either place in his office or to put somewhere in the house.

#12: Dad Colored Cup
I have a fun, easy, and practical gift for dad that he will be able to use all the time.
This Father’s Day craft for preschoolers is great to do because all they have to do is color on it!
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- white ceramic cup
- paint markers
- stickers
- dishwasher safe sealer
B. Set-up
Place the stickers you want to use on the cup! We used the letters DAD and hearts.
C. Activity
Use acrylic paint markers to color around the stickers! The kids can scribble on it or have a specific pattern in mind! No matter how they do this, it will turn out cool!
Wait for the markers to dry just a bit, and then peel off the stickers! It takes about 20 minutes for it to completely dry.
Place your mug in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes!
Add a dishwasher-safe sealer to ensure that it stays on!
#13: Trophy Card Craft
This is an adorable Father’s Day craft for preschoolers to make! This is great for dad or grandpa.

How to do this activity
A. Materials you need

B. Set-up
Paint your child’s hand using acrylic paint and make prints on white paper. Make sure to press down on your child’s hand all over so the print shows up the best!
C. Activity
Print off my trophy template and trace it onto colored paper, then cut it out!
I actually made my own handles for the trophy by folding a piece of paper in half and creating a bubble letter C. Cut these out to make handles.
Paste the handles onto the colored paper if you choose to make your own.
Once the handprint is dry, paste it on top of the trophy and write a sweet message for dad on the trophy!
#14: DIY Coasters
We actually made some of these for Mother’s Day this year, and we made a few for Father’s Day too!
My husband loves getting gifts from the kids that are adorable but also practical so he can use them.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- ceramic white tiles
- mod podge
- foam paint brushes
- waterproof acrylic sealer spray
- photos
- acrylic paint
- cabinet door bumpers
- Sharpie
B. Set-up
Cut your photo to fit the ceramic tiles!
Do one layer of mod podge on the tile before adding on your photo. Let it dry completely!
C. Activity
Once the first layer is dry, add some mod podge on the back of the photo you chose and place it on the tile. Let this dry.
Then, add a layer of mod podge on top of the photo. Allow this to dry completely, and then add 2 more layers of mod podge on top of the photo! Each time let it dry completely.
If you are doing the acrylic paint method, make your fingerprints, let the paint dry, and follow the same directions for sealing.
Once they have 3 layers, take them outside and spray the waterproof acrylic sealer spray on top of them and let them dry out there. The spray smells, so you don’t want it inside!
Add a few layers of spray sealer onto each one to ensure there won’t be any marks on your coasters.
Then, add cabinet door bumpers (4) on each end of the tile for backing! Check out your cool coasters!!
#15: Free Handprint Template Cards
How adorable are these Father’s Day crafts for preschoolers? I have 4 free templates that you can create for Dad, Grandpa, or Uncle!
You can either choose to trace your child’s hand on paper or paint their hand for these crafts.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- cardstock paper
- free printable templates
- glue stick
- scissors
- paint (optional)

Choose what templates you want to use and print them out! I always prefer to use cardstock paper because the paper will hold up better!
C. Activity
Trace your child’s hand on paper and paint it with washable paint and make prints on the templates!
For the cookout printable I would use red or orange paint. The bee craft would use yellow and black paint. Lastly, the baseball would be made out of white paper.
Paste these handprints on the cards and give it to dad as an adorable keepsake Father’s Day craft!
#16: Shrinky Dink Keychains
Shrinky Dink paper is one of the coolest supplies I have ever worked with. It’s so fun to see your child’s handprint shrink down to the size of a keychain.
I love this Father’s Day craft for preschoolers! It’s so fun that it can be used as a keychain.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- Shrinky Dink paper
- keychains
- glossy acrylic paint
- scissors
- hole punch
- baking sheet
- acrylic paint spray
- parchment paper
- Sharpies
B. Set-up
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
C. Activity
Paint your little one’s hand using GLOSS acrylic paint and make a print on the Shrinky Dink paper. Make sure to press their hand down so the entire thing will show up.
You have to use gloss acrylic paint, or this project will not turn out the way it should.
Cut it out using scissors and poke a hole at the top using a hole punch.
Set the handprints on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper. Bake the handprint for 2 minutes at 325 degrees. Pull it out and see if it is flat or if it is curled up. If it is curled, flatten it with a spatula.
Spray your keychain with acrylic paint spray to make sure stays good! Then, add your child’s name, the year, or a message on the keychain. Attach the keychain and give it as a present!
#17: Blowing Kisses Craft
This is an adorable Father’s Day craft for preschoolers to make that involves a lot of cutting skills!
I love this simple DIY card for Dad or grandpa. It’s adorable with their pictures on it.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- cardstock paper
- scissors
- glue stick
- pictures
- sponges
- paint
B. Set-up
Take pictures of your kids and get them printed. There are two ways you can do this craft.
You can have them facing straight, blowing a kiss forward, or turn to the side and blow a kiss!
C. Activity
They will cut their pictures out and paste them onto the paper!
For the first card, I painted my son’s hand and made a print on white cardstock paper.
To make the blowing kiss card, cut a small rectangle and paste one end behind the photo. Then, paste the other end to the back of the handprint.
This will make it so the card can be pulled down to reveal the photo!
For the other card, paste the photo on and make heart shapes on sponges. Then, the kids can cut them out.
They will dip the sponge in paint and make prints coming from their hand to look like they are blowing hearts!
#18: Father’s Day Stick Frames
This Father’s Day craft for preschoolers can be placed up around the house, or it can be taken to work and placed in Dad’s office!
You can even make these popsicle stick picture frames stand up! I’ll tell you all the details.
How to do this activity
A. Materials you need
- large popsicle sticks
- card stock paper
- hot glue
- acrylic paint
- Sharpie
- stickers
- small popsicle sticks
B. Set-up
Paint four popsicle sticks with acrylic paint! It will take about 15-20 minutes for these to dry.
C. Activity
Once they are dry, you’ll hot glue the sticks together to form a square shape. I also hot glue a piece of colored cardstock on the back of the sticks so it will be able to stand up!
Now it’s time to decorate the popsicle sticks! Make fingerprints, use stickers, or draw!
Cut a photo to fit the square shape you made with the sticks. I just tape it on top of the colored card stock in case we want to change the photo inside.
To make it stand up, tape a small popsicle stick to the back of the card stock paper. I add a few pieces to make sure it won’t fall.
